The Game Awards, Ajang Apresiasi bagi Pelaku dan Penikmat Gaming

Jakarta, Gizmologi – The Game Awards hadir menjadi ajang tahunan bergengsi bagi pelaku industri game seluruh dunia. Apresiasi terhadap pemenang akan terus terasa dalam jangka lama, salah satunya dengan tumbuhnya fanatisme dari para penikmat game itu sendiri. Hal tersebut dapat membangun ekosistem di masa mendatang dengan jaminan bahwa seri game yang membawa nama pemenang penghargaan akan mudah laku di pasaran.

Digelar sejak tahun 2014 sampai 8 tahun kemudian, ajang ini telah banyak melahirkan pemenang dalam beragam kategori. Dengan kategori utama Game ot the Year yang menjadi primadona bagi developer. Bahkan istilah GOTY dari The Game Awards dapat digunakan untuk strategi pemasaran bagi developer game yang memenangkannya.

Kategori indie game juga sering mendapat perhatian dari para penikmat. Salah satu sebabnya ialah keunikan tema ataupun desain yang kadang diluar pakem mainstream. Seperti Stray, pemenang edisi The Game Awards 2022, sebuah game dengan tema kucing sebagai protagonis utamanya. Menawarkan sudut pandang seekor kuncing dalam mengarungi kehidupannya. Sungguh menarik.

Kategori dalam penghargaan dalam The Game Awards pun terus berkembang seiring dinamika industri game itu sendiri. Hadirnya penghargaan untuk game berbasis Augmented/ Virtual Reality dan penghargaan untuk ajang esports terbaik menjadi gambaran betapa industri game tidak pernah berhenti di satu tempat.
