Dirilis pada tahun 2017, Apple iPhone 8 menjadi satu dari tiga smartphone baru Apple di masanya yang termurah. Bersamaan dengan smartphone ini, juga diperkenalkan opsi yang lebih besar dengan kamera ganda yakni iPhone 8 Plus. Serta iPhone X yang jadi iPhone pertama dengan layar penuh dan navigasi gestur, tanpa home button.

Meneruskan bahasa desain yang sama persis seperti iPhone 7, Apple hanya sempurnakan materialnya dengan menggunakan kaca Gorilla Glass pada bodi belakang, membuatnya terlihat lebih mewah dan premium. Bobotnya tetap terjaga, kurang dari 150 gram, dengan empat opsi warna menarik. Tetap dilengkapi dengan sertifikasi IP67 yang membuatnya tahan debu dan air.

Dimensi layar iPhone 8 tergolong kecil, hanya 4,7 inci dengan bezel tebal pada keempat sisinya. Meski begitu, kualitas panel IPS yang digunakan bisa dibilang setara dengan smartphone masa kini, lengkap dengan teknologi True tone display yang bisa menyesuaikan temperatur warna putih sesuai dengan pencahayaan di sekitar.

iPhone 8 hanya memiliki satu kamera di belakang, beresolusi 12MP dan dipasangkan dengan OIS, namun belum dengan mode malam atau mode potret. Sementara untuk perekaman videonya, sudah bisa sampai resolusi 4K hingga 60fps, dan hasilnya bakal lebih halus berkat kombinasi EIS. Kamera depannya sendiri beresolusi 7MP.

Smartphone ini juga jadi yang pertama mengusung seri cip Bionic, yakni Apple A11 Bionic dengan fabrikasi 11nm dan CPU hexa-core (6 inti). Dipadukan dengan kapasitas baterai yang justru lebih kecil, daya tahannya masih kurang lebih sama seperti seri sebelumnya. Dan Apple masih berikan pembaruan perangkat lunak iOS 15, membuat perangkat ini lebih futureproof dari smartphone Android kebanyakan.
