Hadir sebagai smartphone yang dinanti-nanti oleh pengguna iPhone lawas, iPhone 12 mini diresmikan sebagai flagship termurah dari varian lainnya dan dengan dimensi sangat kompak. Smartphone ini sangat cocok untuk mereka yang ingin beralih dari iPhone 6/7/8 tanpa ingin dimensi yang lebih besar. Bahkan dimensinya secara keseluruhan sedikit lebih kecil.

Mudah digenggam dalam satu tangan, iPhone 12 mini punya bobot hanya 135 gram saja, dengan ketebalan 7,4mm. Meski begitu, tak membuat bodinya ringkih, karena materialnya tetap diperkuat dengan kaca Gorilla Glass depan belakang serta bingkai dari aluminium. Bahkan kaca depannya diperkuat dengan partikel berlian agar lebih tahan pecah saat terjatuh. Lengkap membawa sertifikasi IP68.

Meski dimensi bodinya kecil, dimensinya cukup luas mencapai 5,4 inci. Panel yang digunakan adalah Super Retina XDR OLED, bisa menyentuh kecerahan maksimum 1200 nits dan punya kerapatan piksel tinggi, mencapai 476ppi. Di balik layar tersebut, disematkan sebuah cip Apple A14 Bionic yang sudah gunakan fabrikasi 5nm untuk efisiensi daya maksimal, plus performa yang kencang.

Kapasitas RAM 4GB dipadukan dengan penyimpanan internal mulai dari 64GB hingga 256GB. Di belakang, kamera utama 12MP dengan OIS ditemani dengan kamera ultra wide-angle 12MP yang kini juga dilengkapi mode malam. Kamera depannya pun demikian, dan semuanya bisa digunakan untuk rekam video hingga resolusi 4K 60fps, lengkap dengan stabilisasi berbasis software.

Mengingat dimensinya yang mungil, kapasitas baterai iPhone 12 mini terpaksa harus dipangkas, menjadi hanya 2,227 mAh saja. Bisa diisi secara cepat lewat dukungan fast charging 20W, MagSafe wireless charging 12W dan Qi wireless charging 7,5W.
