Jakarta, Gizmologi – The existence of game servers has become one of the key features in modern game purchases. Their presence allows gamers to access more game modes, especially those involving a larger number of players online and across platforms. However, like games with a limited period of popularity, game servers also have their own lifespan.

In 2025, there will also be several game servers from titles that are set to close soon or at the end of the year. At least 14 cross-platform games, including those on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, are scheduled to shut down their online services throughout 2025.

According to a report from The Sun, server shutdowns typically occur due to a decrease in player numbers, which slowly kills the online ecosystem. Another reason is that developers choose to redirect their resources to other game titles. This often happens when there is a new installment in the same game series, as seen in most sports games.

The server shutdowns in May will begin with Dauntless, an action-RPG game that will end its services on May 29. This will be followed by the server shutdown of the fighting game Multiversus on May 30. Previously, services for the FIFA series titles 16, 17, and 18 became unavailable starting May 6, 2025.

Server games from major titles will soon follow consecutively each month. This includes sports, survival, and fighting games. Some of them can still be played offline, including in multiplayer mode.

Some game titles have not yet received a specific date for their server shutdown. However, this does not prevent the closure from happening soon. This includes titles like Resident Evil and Jump Force, which were once quite popular among gamers.
